Fostering a sense of independence in our children has always been one of my primary goals, both as a parent and as a homeschool mom. One of the greatest gifts I learned from my own parents was how to take responsibility for my own learning—which has fueled my ability to pursue so many wonderful things in life! Keeping this in mind, I took the structure my parents developed when I was a student and turned that into a full-year academic planner for my own kids!
 
The planner is simple but effective. Each week is blank, so you can add the subjects you want and the work that needs to get done. Instead of needing to come to you each day to know what needs to be done, your student can open up their planner and immediately know what lesson to read or which pages to complete.
 
In addition to the weekly planning pages, each term opens with space for students to brainstorm goals, contains a mid-term check in, and ends with a term review. Through this planner, students can learn to take responsibility for their own education, while also learning how to set goals, pursue what is most important to them, celebrate their victories, and remain persistent in their challenges.
 
Our 32-week planner is broken up into four, eight-week terms.
